Highlights of Modi’s visit to Austria: After completing a two-day visit to Russia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Austria on Tuesday. On the second day of his visit, he had bilateral discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier in the day.
PM Modi reassured Putin during their meeting that India supports peace. According to the prime minister, bombs, weapons, and bullets prevent peace negotiations from taking place. The two leaders had spoken to each other twice in the previous two days.
In Moscow, Modi also spoke to the Indian diaspora. During an intense gathering, the prime minister referred to Russia as a “friend for all seasons.” In addition, he pledged to put in three times as much effort during his third term as prime minister.
Upon landing at the Moscow airport on Monday, Modi was given a state of honour. He later met Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, who gave him a private dinner. Putin said, “You are welcome here, friend,” and thanked PM Modi for coming. I am so glad to see you again.” Putin gave Prime Minister Modi a tour of Novo-Ogaryovo, where he resides, in his electric vehicle. Following their conversation, the Russian Embassy in India released a video showing the two leaders having a great time on their drive.
Top sources said on Tuesday that Russia has generally heeded India’s request to stop hiring Indians as support staff for the Russian military and to guarantee the return of those who are still serving in the force.
Putin and PM Modi have met sixteen times in the last ten years. The leaders’ most recent face-to-face encounter occurred in 2022 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
